Node Updates

You’ll note that there’s been some update to the whole node; we’ve added a few sites, made changes, etc. Forums are gone for the moment, mailing lists are private access (members only), still free / Free however. That will never change.

We won’t refuse donations however, it does cost us time and resources to run this, but our costs for now are minimal, which is good for everyone :).

Gaaah apache2 Works

Yes it works, everything as it should. Has been for a long time.

New CVS for wp is such that I can make semi-static (what they call) “pages”, versus posts (like this one); this enables me to expand this site a bit in such a way that I can make a sub-dir for say, the services page. but without having to get messy.

Oh, and the theme is going.

Gaaaah, Apache2

HTTP and SSL are both a pain sometimes. count that as a large one. combine them, and you have the xian hell in your face when everything isn’t right and configured properly.

it works now. make that double when it’s a newish piece of software that doesn’t quite behave like the one, and HTTPS is fairly new to me too (i count that as part of the growing pains there).

forums.kisikew.org is now served from https://, as was my original intention with them (besides the fact that it decided to not work right now…. i’ll have to go in to the database it’s running from and fix it lower level i think).

as for the wiki, i don’t know why that isn’t, i suspect mod_perl and such. and the mod_perl docs for apache2 aren’t very helpful.

Forums Open

The beginnings of some forums are open. Not much there yet but some hints here and there as to what the whole idea of them is, and what they’re intended for ;) .

All you have to do is go there, sign up (no cost, and no spam list submissions - i HATE spam, I run various things to NOT get spam), and log in - sorry, no HTTPS:// yet :/ (some bugs in my set up I have to figure out). I’ll let folks know - you guessed it - here, and on the mailing list - when that’s functional.

PS: forgot the link to the forums, d’oh!

Dict Access

I’ve put up a web dict for those who would like to look up words in a dictionary without having to go to one of the more commercial sites ;) . There’s also www.dict.org - the developpers of the dictd.

You can find the link to the dictionary in the “Links” Section.
